The "8320," Rossi's rendition of Savinelli's signature "320 KS," is a thoroughly Italian take on the classic Author shape, pairing a plump, well-rounded bowl to an equally robust shank-and-stem combination. Noticeably larger than its standard variant, this EX version is a properly full-bodied rendition, featuring soft, supple curves throughout its hearty proportions and bold, masculine lines. The "8320" is, in essence, a more substantial, muscular take on the Italian marque's other Author design, the "8321," and in EX size, it's made all the more so. Reassuringly stout in hand, and housing an impressively broad chamber, it's the perfect pipe to sit back and relax with — the epitome of a comfort pipe and considered a defining, signature shape among Savinelli and Rossi's portfolio.
Similar to the Vittoria finish, Rossi's Lucca series presents this pipe in a dark-stained rustication that does well to maintain the silhouette's clean lines while offering intriguing texture in hand. Where the Lucca differs, however, is in the addition of a flashy chrome accent ring, contrasting elegantly against the dark hue of the stummel. Furthermore, all pipes within the Lucca line boast EX size designations — keeping the shape and relative proportions intact, but lending this piece an even more substantial presence that results in larger chamber dimensions.
